Life is composed of stories about love, friendship, relationship, success and failures. They say that life is unfair. How can it be unfair when everything that happens in your life are just results of your environment, actions and perspectives. It depends whether you are taking the brighter side or the dark side. I know that my comfort zone is the most safest place to stay. If I will stay longer, I might not know what life has to offer. Because I chose see same old familiar places and faces. That is why when I lived away from home, I learned a lot of things. I learned how to be independent, how to survive and how to manage. I started to see myself as a strong person. Maybe not that strong as a super hero but I can now stand with my own feet and live life to the fullest.
In my 26 years of existence, I learned that in life,
1. As you grow older, your circle becomes closer
I used to have a lot of friends. I have friends from childhood to elementary up to college days and from the cyber world. They were countless. But now, some of them are strangers, some of them have their own life and some of them forgot that we once shared some memories together. I realized that you don’t need to have a lot of friends in order to be genuinely happy. You true friends to stay by your side in both good times and bad times.
2. Love is not all about rainbows and butterflies
I am the type of person who is hopeless romantic. I believe in fairy tales, happy ever after and forever. However, I also broke my heart many times because of past relationships and childish infatuations. I thought I will never find a prince charming and my own forever. But I was wrong. When I met my boyfriend, I learned that falling in love is easy but staying in love is difficult. You need to have the prefect ingredient of patience, understanding and faith with each other. It is normal that when road gets bumpy, your nerves get jarred up and arguments arise. I learned not let your emotions jive with your own decisions. You have to think not just once, not twice but thrice. Because everything you do affects your relationship.
3. it is okay to fail.
I am afraid of failure. I remember that whenever I get zero from my quizzes, I cry so hard and felt like it was the end of the world. It scared me that I might be a disappointment to our family. Because of pressure, I did some things that isn’t within the norm. Whenever, I feel like I am failing, I am starting to have tremors, palpitations and difficulty of breathing. I feel like choking and wanting to disappear. But now, I realized that failure doesn’t always depict a bad image. Failure can be a stepping stone of remodeling your strategies and habits. Failure is a part of success. You don’t have to be hard on your self because this is a part of life. You just have to learn some things in a hard way.
4. being yourself, makes you unique
In contrast of having a lot of friends, I am the shy type of person. I keep myself behind the cyber world because I don’t want some people discover what I am doing. I am too shy to show that I blog and do creative content. I find it awkward becoming the center of attraction. Rather, I just wanted to blend in. But I realized that being unique makes yourself glow in a sea of people. And the things that I love doing makes me unique.
5. the opinion of other people doesn’t really matter
I read a lot of blogs regarding quitting their corporate jobs just to travel the world. Wow, I praise them for being brave. Remember, you are living your own life and you know your self better than them. Whatever goals you are trying to attain, go ahead and focus. We all die in the end. What really matters is that how you lived your life. On your death bed, it will cross your mind if you have lived your life the fullest or just plain regrets. So stop thinking what would people say if you go after your dreams. Just have faith and you will be able to do it.
Actually there is a lot more to share but the most important lesson I learned is..
To love yourself first.
You won’t be able to love others if you can’t even do it to yourself. How can you give a light when you yourself isn’t glowing? Always appreciate your own beauty, learn from your flaws and forgive all your failures. You are a strong person. And you are beautiful.
