The SM Seaside City Cebu brought back SPREAD 2.0 as a part of their first year and thanksgiving celebration last November 26, 2016 at the SM Seaside Complex. This is a culinary event of SM Seaside which showcases the mall’s restaurants and allows the mall goers to witness how their favorite dishes were done by the featured chefs. Moreover, there are also free bountiful and delicious dishes for food tasting.
The even was hosted by our very own Binibining Pilipinas candidate/Model/Shopping Guru, Maria Gigante and TV host and restaurant owner, Alexis Yap. A very big applause for them for keeping the good vibes during the event. There were also special performances from our Sinulog Idol Champions to entertain while mall goers are enjoying the free food tasting.
The inner foodie in me was unleashed during the Food Carnival event and here are my top three favorites:
1. Kare-Kare of  Cabalen
Cabalen is an eat-all-you-can restaurant which is known for its excellent Filipino cuisine at an affordable price. It’s like going to a Filipino fiesta once you dine in. I was so glad when I knew that one of the featured chefs is from Cabalen and he will be preparing Kare-Kare. Kare-Kare is a Philippine stew which is complimented with a peanut sauce. I have tasted a lot of kare-kare in my life and Cabalen’s kare-kare has passed my standards because its sauce is naturally made from whole peanuts. Unlike the one I’ve tasted during fiestas, it is made from ready made peanut butter.
2. Pork Barbecue of Paolito’s STK ta Bai!
Paolito’s stall during the event catered a free food tasting buffet and because I am a barbecue lover, I grabbed three sticks without hesitation. And it was a “foodgasm” for my taste buds because it was undeniably delicious. It has the perfect combination of sweetness and saltiness that envelops around the meat. I haven’t been to the Paolito’s Seafood House yet but I will definitely dine in this restaurant once my mother visit me here in Cebu. She’s the one who will pay the bill. Kay basta libre, lami!
3. Tuna Taco’s by The Social
The Social is known by its industrial-chic interiors of brick accents and grafitti walls which are definitely instagram worthy. Aside from the yummy looking featured chefs during the event, their tuna tacos are very delightful. I believe it is best paired with ice cold beer on one hand. Once you take a bite of the taco, the wasabi sauce on top of the tuna will leave you speechless. Oh my gosh, I am running out of words on how I will describe it. I guess you should try it with yourself! Seaside Saloon by The Social is now open at the SM Seaside Skypark 🙂
How about you? Have you been to the Spread 2.0: Food Carnival at SM Seaside? What are your top three favorites? O

  1. As much as I hate to admit it, the food spread (pun intended) wasn't as good as it was during the first iteration. Even in the booths, there was so much more free food during the first one than this time around. I really loved the tuna taco by Seaside Saloon though!

  2. I was late when I got to the event mainly because I didn't wanna go in the first place. Hehe. The event itself wasn't really lively so the only thing I wanted to do there was eat. Haha

  3. I want to try the tuna taco because it looks intriguing for me. hahaha! Thank you for featuring four-eyed laagan handfie hahaha. 🙂

  4. I was in the first episode and boy, it was such a belly-busting experience. I am glad that you guys had a swell time.

  5. AJ

    wa maka gutom… 🙁
